Iman Deschatres is an ecommerce tax specialist. She has been deeply involved in the evolution of the tax and reporting obligations accruing to Marketplaces, and has been an avid student of the practices and business models of some of the largest marketplaces, from as early as pre-2015 and through the global introduction of advanced tax requirements of the remote seller and Marketplace Facilitator rules.
She has engaged with several marketplaces themselves, their ecommerce customers at every level of tax sophistication, and importantly, the tax authorities in numerous countries including several of the US states regarding the concept of Marketplace for tax purposes and how the remote sales, cross border, and Marketplace Facilitator rules should be applied. In developing such broad practical experience, she has a deep understanding of the challenges that each of these constituent groups is facing.
